Online Lectures, Academic Comeback, National Grid Collapse, and Everything In Between
Dear reader,
I'm here again to grace you with my wonderful presence😏, gist you a bit, and serve you with the hottest news from the coolest tech community on the block😎.
It's been two weeks, and I must say, I've missed you. How are you?
For some of us, it’s back to the drawing board to draft yet another plan for an academic comeback, while it’s business as usual for others. Although online lectures are seeking to shake the boat, unilag students continue to stand strong. Big ups to all _Akokites_. 🙏🏾
And, if you're one of the _"Fake Band-A"_ people like myself, then you've most likely been betrayed by our 'wonderful' _PHCN_ this past week. While everyone complained about the power issue, I actually thought I was exempted. I even made fun of some of my friends, but, boy, never did I expect that I would join the rest of Nigerians in mourning the (now every day) National Grid Collapse.
Anyways, do you know how to _fail_?
Yes, you read that right. Now, I'm not referring to the regular failure of the _National Grid_ to provide electricity; I'm talking of the kind of failure that enables true success.
You've most likely heard of the famous _Thomas Edison,_ the man who invented the light bulb. Some say that he failed a thousand times, others say he failed ten thousand times. Tbh, I can't tell you the exact times he failed at inventing the light bulb. But what I do know is that he failed a lot at it.
A lot of us are scared of failure, be it in our academics, career choices, or even life in general. But I believe this dilemma stems from a place of what I call _" Not Failing Rightly"_ Yes, you read correctly.
But can _"Failure"_ and _"Right"_ be in the same sentence? Does it even make sense?
Please, allow me the opportunity to clarify. 😉
Failing rightly is not about consistently getting back up and going again. It is about identifying your shortcomings and creating a new strategy. You're attacking the same goal, but this time with a different, more efficient, and effective approach.
It is all about resetting and changing your previous move. Many think nothing good comes out of failure. In fact, most people will tell you to avoid failure at all costs. But failure is seen as one of the very few things in life that allows you to acquire perseverance, diligence, critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and many other life skills needed to thrive in today's day and age.
_"Never fail,"_ they say. But if _Thomas Edison_, along with numerous world leaders didn't, would we enjoy the technology and advancement we have today?
In his words, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work"
Read that again.
My advice for you today is to Fail Right. I want you to see failure as an opportunity for growth, and success. If you fail at something, try a different approach. You fail again? Try something else till you succeed at it. Remember that success doesn't just find people out of nowhere. It finds people when they consistently show up every day.
Speaking of successes,
DevSprint 2.0!
